Achieving building certifications with circular systems
heroal aluminium system solutions have a significant impact on the building shell and sustainable building methods. Due to their outstanding durability, they remain in a building for decades until they are finally recycled with as little loss of quality as possible and broken down into their components to be fed into the material cycle in order to manufacture new products from the materials. As proof of the use of environmentally safe, healthy and recyclable materials, 36 heroal aluminium systems from the areas of windows, doors, curtain walls, lifting-sliding doors and fire protection are Cradle to Cradle Certified®. This internationally recognised certification attests to the sustainability of products throughout the entire product life cycle. Among other things, it considers the safe and potentially infinite circulation of materials in cycles and serves as a verification document for many green building standards such as LEED, BREEAM, DGNB or WELL.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and the Environmental and Health Declaration (Fiche de Déclaration Environnementale et Sanitaire, FDES), which applies to the French market, were created to assess the energy and resource consumption of a building product and its emissions into the environment over the entire product life cycle - i.e. from the extraction of raw materials through manufacture and use to disposal/recycling. They are also available for heroal systems and support fabricators and architects in making a valuable contribution to the sustainability of buildings with heroal solutions.
